Getting started

Back to topics
Do I need an account to browse?

No. You can read about every category and service on this website without an account. An account is needed to consult, because a consultation creates a clinical record.

How do I create an account?

Download DropDr from Google Play or the App Store, then register with your mobile number. A one-time PIN confirms the number belongs to you.

What does it cost?

Downloading and searching is free. You pay for the consultation or service you book, at the applicable price shown before you confirm.

Can I use DropDr on a computer?

Not yet. The web application is in development. Today everything happens in the mobile app. See the web platform page for current status.

Finding care

Back to topics
How do I search?

Start with a specialty, a service or simply how you feel, then narrow by language, location, consultation format, availability and price. See find care.

What if I do not know which specialty I need?

Start with general and primary care. A general practitioner can assess most concerns, treat many outright and refer you onward — usually faster and cheaper than guessing.

Can I filter by language?

Yes. Professionals list the languages they consult in. See language matching.

Can I choose a professional I have seen before?

Yes. Save them as a favourite and book them directly, including scheduling a time when they are not currently online.

Appointments and consultations

Back to topics
Instant or scheduled — what is the difference?

An instant consultation connects you with whoever is online now. A scheduled appointment reserves a published slot with a specific professional. Same professionals, different timing and different degree of choice.

What if the call drops?

The paid session stays open for a set window and either side can reconnect. The professional can also call you back.

Can I message afterwards?

Yes, within the follow-up window after the consultation ends, for clarifying what was discussed. After that a new consultation is needed.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

In the app. What applies depends on how much notice you give, and the terms are shown when you book.

Home visits

Back to topics
Why do I have to verify my identity?

Because a professional is travelling to a private address. Verification protects them as much as it protects you. It is required once and then applies across every category.

How are home visits priced?

Per service at a fixed published price, not hourly. A travel component may apply depending on distance.

What if nobody arrives?

Report a no-show in the app. Funds are held rather than paid across immediately, so DropDr can review and credit or refund you where the service was not delivered.

What information does the professional need?

Full address plus a map pin, your contact number, the service required, preferred time, access notes and an emergency contact.

Payments and refunds

Back to topics
When do I pay?

Before the consultation. Payment confirms the booking and opens the session.

What will I pay?

The applicable total is shown before you confirm payment. See how pricing works.

Do I pay DropDr for medicine?

No. Medicine is paid to the dispensing pharmacy. DropDr does not sell medicine or take a margin on it.

How do refunds work?

Where a service was not delivered, funds are not released and you can be credited to your wallet for a quick rebooking, or refunded. Disputes are reviewed by DropDr.

Records and privacy

Back to topics
Where is my health information kept?

In the secure DropDr application, never on this website. It is treated as special personal information under POPIA. See the POPIA notice.

Who can see my records?

You, and professionals you grant access to. Access is logged, and you can withdraw it.

Are consultations recorded?

Video consultations are not recorded by default. The record is the professional's notes and any documents issued.

Can I delete my account?

You can request deletion in the app. Some records must be retained for a period to meet legal obligations — that retention is a requirement, not a choice.

For professionals

Back to topics
How do I join?

Start with onboarding. You will need identity, qualifications and current professional registration.

Where can I review commercial terms?

Applicable payment and platform terms are presented during onboarding. See pricing and availability.

Can I control when I am available?

Entirely. Go online when you choose, publish only the slots you want to offer, and cover only the areas you are willing to travel to.

My profession is not listed.

Ask us to review it. See request a category.

Safety and emergencies

Back to topics
Is DropDr an emergency service?

No. In an emergency contact your local emergency provider immediately. See emergency information.

How do I know a professional is genuine?

Identity, qualifications and registration are reviewed before a profile is activated, and a professional whose registration lapses is blocked from appearing as available.

What if I am unhappy with a consultation?

Rate and review it, and raise a concern with DropDr. Complaints about clinical conduct can also go to the professional's registering body.

I think someone is misusing the platform.

Report it through the app or contact the team. Reports are reviewed.

Still need help?

Ask the team directly.

Send a message and we will respond by email. Never include medical records, diagnoses or other health information in an ordinary email.
